Jaya Krishnan, noted Glebe artist, held a grand opening of his art gallery at 807 Bank Street in November. In an inspired partnership, his son Devon Bowers-Krishnan, a qualified sommelier, also launched his wine enterprise, called FINE Art + Wine, with plans to hold wine-tasting events of various kinds in the beautiful space of the gallery. His sparkling wine enhanced the well-attended event, as did hors d’oeuvres by Gitanes.

Jaya Krishnan’s art is inspired by local Ottawa scenes such as Brown’s Inlet, but it also reflects the bold colours of rural Cambodia, where he frequently travelled before the pandemic to paint and work with impoverished children. He has also been the subject of a documentary film by filmmaker Mike McKay, who filmed hours of compelling storytelling, documenting Krishnan’s life both in Ottawa and Cambodia.
