Poetry Callout for August

POETRY QUARTER

What if?
What if I had not said what I did? What if he had turned and looked at me that day in the rain? If only I hadn’t seen her across the street, with him. What if I had shared my windfall? If only the plane had not taken off in the storm. What would the world, my world, be like if things had gone differently? Would I forever regret the road not taken? Follow your train of thought until it derails and brings you a whole new scenario – then write a poem about it!

As usual, poems should be:

• Original and unpublished in any medium (no poems submitted elsewhere, please);
• No more than 30 lines each;
•  On any aspect of the theme described above, within the bounds of public discourse; and
• Submitted on or before Monday, July 27, 2026.

Poets in the National Capital Region of all ages welcome (school-age poets, please indicate
your grade and school). Please send your entries (up to 5 poems that meet the criteria) to editor@
glebereport.ca. Remember to send us your contact information and your grade and school if you
are in school.
